| Contraindications |
timolol Bronchial asthma, a history of bronchial asthma, COPD, sinus bradycardia, second or third degree atrioventricular block, overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock. Use caution when cerebrovascular insufficiency is suspected.
bimatoprost bimatoprost hypersensitivity.

timolol There are numerous vascular and respiratory side effects of beta blocking agents. See a list here. bimatoprost conjunctival hyperemia, eyelash changes, pruritus, periorbital pigmentation (reversible on discontinuation), increased Iris pigmentation (often not reversible on discontinuation). |
| Pediatric use | Timolol: Safety and efficacy have not been established in children younger than 2 years of age. Bimatoprost: not recommended for patients below the age of 16 due to potential increased pigmentation following chronic use. |
| Pregnancy | Timolol: Limited observational data does not suggest teratogenicity in humans. See above cautions. Bimatoprost: formerly category C. No increased risk of major birth defects or miscarriages based on bimatoprost postmarketing experience. Teratogenicity observed in rats at 33x the usual human dose but not at 2.7x. |
